RELATIONSHIP ADVICE - ASK BRIAN

Lonely and Depressed

Dear Brian,
I'd like to ask for your advice. First of all, I've been in-love many times but sadly I always got hurt and ended up lonely and depressed. Now, I'm afraid to fall in love again because I'm afraid to get hurt again. What should I do? I want to have someone to love.
- Christopher

Dear Christopher,
Ending up lonely and depressed is what happens when love goes wrong.  When it's right, love is like a warm coat that protects you from the chill of loneliness and the despair that comes with living in an indifferent world.  So, ask yourself: What went wrong? Were you and the men you loved compatible?  Did you want the same things in life and love?  You may not want to get hurt again, but if you want someone to love, you have to put that fear aside.  The more miles you walk, the more callouses your feet will develop, and the more your heart is broken, the stronger it becomes.  Get back out there and find someone.  What's true in business is also true in love.  Only by learning the lessons that come with failure can you ever hope to succeed.
