A Las Vegas Wedding: Love at First Sight
It's one thing to read about success stories in Date.com's newsletter every week, but it's another thing altogether when you get to witness one first hand. Such was the case when I flew to Las Vegas on Jan. 18th to witness the wedding of Tim and Lisa, who met in our very own Date.com chat room last spring.
While waiting for the ceremony to begin, I was able to meet with the rest of the wedding party, which consisted of about 70 Date.com members, who had all become fast friends in the chat room. The entire wedding party was made up of Date.com members; i.e.. tee: the maid of honor, doug as best man, and vator: the acting father of the bride!
Most (if not all) of these members had the pleasure of meeting at fellow chatters' dot & zoo's home last June when they held what we think is the first datefriends party. What was most interesting to me, though, along with the fact that Lisa (Ladyslippers) and Tim (Draconis6662) chose to share this special occasion with their online friends, was that this was the second time they'd actually met in person! You know what they (successful couples) say…. "Sometimes you just know."
40-year-old Tim popped the question soon after seeing Lisa for the first time and believes "...you can't fall in love online. You need to see a person's eyes." Tim, an Ohio widower, was prompted to join Date.com by his daughter, who encouraged him to 'get back out there.'
The two have no concerns about getting hitched on only the second time they've laid eyes on each other. Says 32-year-old Lisa, a single mom from Maine, "When I first chatted with him, I could tell he was one of the good guys."
The ceremony at the New Frontier Hotel was lovely. Tasty cake and bubbly champagne, a bridal bouquet toss and garter throw all made the party something sweet to remember. Another Date.com member, Lianne (txrivergirl) graced us with two of her original songs and beautiful voice.
After the wedding, Date.com threw a party, and we witnessed a very romantic surprise.
Tim will be moving off to Maine to live with his online love. As for the rest of us? We'll keep an eye out for our own Soul mate. He or she could be just a click away…
