SUCCESS STORY CONTEST WINNERS

January 2005 - WildKatEyes & alleternity

"I knew I was hopelessly in love the first time I laid eyes on Jeff at the airport. I had seen his pictures. I had spoken to him on the phone every day for two months before we met.

"Being divorced for almost 10 years and totally distrustful of men I was still hoping that somewhere out there was that special someone I could see myself spending the rest of my life with. Someone I could trust by just looking into his eyes, someone I could open my heart to. At the suggestion of one of my friend's (I honestly don't recall who it was exactly) I signed up with Date.com sometime in June of 2002 and after several weeks I got a very pleasant e-mail from user "all eternity". I guess knew right away he was the one I would want to date and spend time with.

Several e-mails later we exchanged phone numbers and after our first conversation there was not a day that we did not speak at least 2 times a day. We were both hooked. His sense of humor made me laugh every time we spoke, his views on life, family and relationships made me want to get to know him more and more. Every conversation we had I became more and more convinced of his sincerity. Then one day in August he asked me if I would like to meet with him in person. Without any hesitation I said YES!

He bought tickets for me and I flew to Virginia on Friday, September 13, 2002 (By the way, 13 is my lucky number). We spend a wonderful weekend together, going places and eating out. I was so comfortable with Jeff, like I knew him all my life. And he made me feel like a teenager again.

When it was time for me to leave we both had tears in our eyes, just standing there hugging each other, until it was time to board the plane.

He called me the minute I got inside my apartment and said that he wants to see me again next weekend. Plane tickets were out of the question because it was a bit expensive, so I said that I would take a bus. Jeff's work schedule did not permit him long trips like mine did.

So, the following Saturday I arrived to Virginia Beach bus station at 5 am and was met by a limousine (Jeff's surprise for me). We had even better time that weekend, Jeff took me to bow hunting competition, where he won 2nd place, movies, dinners, etc.

We had decided then that he'll come out to New York on the 29th of September. However, Monday evening, on the way to bus station he said to me that he doesn't want me to leave. I started crying and said that I don't want to leave either. At that point he told me that he would like to kidnap me!!! I froze.

"Is it a yes?" he asked.

"YES" I answered, still bewildered at what I heard. He pulled off highway and told me to call my mother.

I did. My mom was totally shocked but understanding. Next I called my 2 sons (19 and 15), who at the time were living with their father.

We went to New York a week later to pick up some of my stuff and to meet my Mom and kids, and after another month we moved all of my belongings and furniture to Jeff's house.

We got married on April 2, 2003 and on October 16, 2003 our beautiful baby boy was born.

My husband is in the Navy and currently is away on a 6 month deployment. I miss him so very much, but I know that the time will fly really fast and he'll be back for good.

You know, a wedding is usually followed by a honeymoon somewhere romantic. Well, for the past 2 years every day is a honeymoon for us. I have never ever been as happy as I am with Jeff. He is truly my better half, my best friend and confidant, my soul mate and a man who superceded all my expectations of what a real man should be. But most important is that I finally know the meaning of the terms LOVE and TRUST!

Date.com, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for me. Because of you my life is now complete and filled with joy every day."

First love moment: "I knew I was hopelessly in love the first time I laid eyes on Jeff at the airport. I had seen his pictures. I had spoken to him on the phone every day for two months before we met. I liked him a great deal, but seeing him standing there, waiting for me to get off escalator... WOW!!! That made my heart skip a beat. IT WAS LOVE!"
