Help me end my dating famine!
Dear Brenda,
I am 21 years old, almost 22. I never had a girlfriend in my entire life, even though I wanted one since I was 16. I have asked lots of girls out and they turned me down. Some of them were even mean about it. Anyway, this made me upset, and I haven't asked a girl out in two years. I'm a nice guy and I would never accept a one night stand. I am looking for a long term relationship, but a short one would be okay. Any kind of help/advice would be more than appreciated. - Colin
Dear Colin,
I'm sure you've heard this before, but it's true: If you are looking too hard for a relationship, you won't find it. Your “soul mate” will come to you probably when you least expect it. In the mean time, I think it would help to establish a network of female friends. You can practice being a gentleman and build your skills with your female friends. Relating with other people - both male and female - is a learned skill. It's something that takes practice, success, and failure to learn. Focus on relating with others… and she will come.
