RELATIONSHIP ADVICE - ASK BRENDA

I know what I need, but what do I want?

Dear Brenda,

I feel like nobody knows who I am. I need a female who is dark in thought, and is the intellectual that I am. I grow impatient with the lack of depth in my conversations with females. I think it is possible that my verbal ability and openness is frightening, really. I am sorry I cannot sit around and be Mr. Universe and grunt like Tarzan.

I find myself more sleek and sophisticated, but with a leathery face, and tall stature. I am very much an optimist, but you might have noticed I am oh so pessimistic about people's ability to be frank with themselves, and with me. I operate on a normal level very well with most females. I only feel it is no more my problem than it is female's problems that my philosophy always outdoes them. Maybe I am just plain screwed? What do you think?

- Smartguy

Dear Smartguy,

Hmm. I think you should go where your intellectual equals are most likely to hang out. This means no more drinks at Hooter's for you, Mister. All kidding aside, it is true, you must go to where they are. Preferably places where you already enjoy going. Your favorite bookstore for a reading... Perhaps a Mensa singles group? Or some soirée that caters to a subject that won't be gender heavy: IE: classical music as opposed to NASCAR.

We all get pessimistic at one time or another; I don't know... perhaps you might be too hard on the women you meet. Still, I don't think sacrificing what's important to you, belief wise, is the way to go. You sound like you need to meet that one woman who will just blow you away... Hence, you're a smart guy. Go where you think she might be...
