Single During the Holidays
I think the article is right on the money. Single last Christmas.. it was not pleasant. I was at the gym on Christmas day. Keep busy... do what you normally would do on a Tuesday or any day or buy new electronic toys the toy you been wanting and that should keep your mind off everything for at least 2 days - Danny N

Thanks for the advice, well said, and will help me this year. It is very hard being single for the holidays. I just recently became single and it is and was very hard with people asking. So I had my sadness, and tried not to think about it. It is very hard. What are some other suggestions? We still talk ad it seems to make it worse.Should we still talk? Hope to hear back soon. Thanks

This article really changed my outlook. I didn't have a love this year. It was especially hard because I had a rough road to walk down in 2004. I ended up staying home on Christmas Day and had a nice quiet dinner with my 2 teenage children. It was one of the most peaceful days I have been able to enjoy especially with them), in a long time. It is a wonderful thing when you realize what is most precious in your life.

When I am single during the holidays, I don't let it get me down. As a true child at heart, I make sure to catch Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the Charlie Brown Christmas specials on television. A few nights before Christmas, I drive around the surrounding neighborhoods to look at the decorated homes and lawns. And yes, I have to play some traditional cheesy Christmas music in the car. I also make sure it's late enough so that there is not much traffic, as I like to pause in front of certain homes that I knew from my childhood (our old house, neighbors', and friends' homes). Then I come back home, cuddle up with my cat, and watch It's A Wonderful Life on video before I fall asleep gazing at my Christmas tree lights. Maybe next year I will have someone special to join me.
