Hollywood Closets
Comment from Vincent11234 WOW very well written. I very much like how "Tinseltown" is put on the ropes as to allowing gay actors to play lesser roles than their equally qualified heterosexual counter parts. I think there is still more that Hollywood can do to help the general public realize that homosexuals are not flamming, hot pants wearing, limp wirsted, nelly men; they, I mean WE are Doctors, Lawyers, Police officers, Grocery boys, aunts, nieces, cousins, nephews, mothers, fathers, neighbors...no one should be treated as second class citizens and by not allowing marriage we are relagated as second class citizens. Thank you for this well wirtten article and I hope everyone who reads it takes somehting positive away from it. Have a good day.
Comment from Xander03_A I think that Brian has a great point. Most conservative Americans believe that Hollywood always cator to the left leaning liberals, it is just not true. If this was the case more A-list celebrities would have no problemexpressing who they really are in the public eye, without ending up on a blacklist.
Comment from bigcorky2005 I like this article because of the fact that it spreads the truth! Plus, I dont think that it matters whether you are gay or not, it only depends on whether you are happy or not! The world places people in categories of male or female or masculine and feminine when there is really no such thing! The way you act describes the person inside of you it doesnt show whether you are a man or a woman!!!!!
Great article.
Comment from Raymond Wright Excellent and provocative report. Essentially young gay males are in need of positive role models in the cinema and television. Leading man is a good start.
Comment from Phrica2jur Now, you think about this.........Greeks started today thinking, they excel in philosophy and the letter; as a matter of fact, Alexander the great who we being talking about was, by his fathers decision, the disciple of Aristotle( don't we want our children to be better educated than we are; I guest this is not such a modern idea after all). Wouldn't you say that makes him half a philosopher of sort? Then think...his army has soldiers call "hoplitas" which are by him encouraged to be homosexuals, don't you dare say this in the bar at the martini hour, but is a fact, I don't think that he care about his reputation when it came to fame and money, just that he had a purpose in life and he accomplished it. Another day I will tell you why the "hoplitas" were encouraged to be homosexuals! I had fun writing to you and I know haven't solve nothing by doing so, but the steam I release while doing it helps me endure my gay condition and hope for a better day( one without "hordes"). Did you know that one of the most costly decisions in armies history was Achilles' not to fight against TROY; neither her mother or the gods could convincing him otherwise until Hector had the stupid idea of killing Patroclo, Achilles lover for many years and a commendable "blade".-It was fun, I enjoy the article, Thanks for letting me express my anger.
Comment from Stephen Excellent article. Really shows the hypocrisy of Hollywood!
Comment from jacklondon Right on. I know for a fact Tom Cruise is gay. I heard it from the set of War of the Worlds.
Comment from eden Great column! thanks!
Somewhat interesting but very old news!
Comment from lee Yes, I agree with you!But they all look at what happened to "Ellen"after she came out on her show, you can blame the networks for the way they act too, and now with who is in the white house its twice as bad just look at what's leaving TV"and, I know its not all just because of rating, I mean we are loosing "q.A.F",and its the last year of "will and grace"I never hear a word about them being gone to "bush's"narrow minded (not what I wanted to say but, he is pres.)and his followers!!
AMEN to that. Also I have a hard time with Hollywood and there casting of roles. Why do we have "Straight Men" playing Gay roles? There are hundreds, thousands of good Gay actors who could do a much better job. Again the "Straight" community cashing in on us...SAD
Comment from anonymous Shut up and mind your business without concerning about others. there is more to the content of a person than the time they spend having sex. the soul of a person knows not gender but true inspiration to go beyond the mere mortal. be alive in spirit and identify yourself with what's really important: learning to love unconditionally and pray our issues will be dealt with by our maker and not our haters; so, we can carry out the mission each of us have to enlighten the next person. peace!
Comment from 1spike You mentioned a lot of great actors and the films they played in. Actually, when Rock Hudson and Doris Day did "Pillow Talk", there was a sequence of the movie where Rock Hudson was pretending to be gay so that he could win a point with Doris and make her party line neighbor look bad. His approach was subtle, but his acting was very smooth. I often wonder what he was thinking about and how he felt when he was doing this movie - especially that sequence.
Comment from alexkk Stars shouldn't have to keep their sexuality a secret. It's that sort of bullshit that leads to suicide and things like that. Being gay doesn't affect your ability or lack of ability to act or sing or anything else. It shouldn't be ignored or glossed over but it shouldn't have to be a dirty secret either.
Comment from Jhnjxs I like the rumors. I like being able to decide for myself if someone is gay or not... especially celebrities. Rumors are just rumors. I am very intrigued by RUMORS of gay black celebrities. Actors, sports figures and musicians. Even the ones on the down low!!!
Comment from papi69 I think Diesel can do a gay scene and would like it.
